Paul Jean brings more than 10 years of experience in strategic communications, writing and public policy campaigns to his work with some of New England’s leading business and non-profit organizations.

He has successfully developed and implemented creative and thoughtful communications strategies to help his clients achieve their goals.

Paul specializes in helping clients translate complex ideas into messages that different target audiences can understand. He is expert in integrating strategic communications into public policy campaigns and melding communications with legal and political strategies and working as an integral member of larger teams. He has successfully developed and implemented creative and thoughtful communications strategies to help his clients achieve their goals: from permitting two IKEA stores in Massachusetts and reforming the children’s mental health system to renaming the state colleges as the state university system of Massachusetts.

His practice also includes building thought leadership campaigns for organizations and their executives. Paul develops multifaceted communications plans that integrate traditional and social media, speaking engagements, online platforms, white papers and other research-based articles for the purposes of enhancing his clients’ reputation and becoming the “go-to” source for expertise and information on particular issues and subjects.

Mr. Jean has developed a particular forte in writing and placing op-ed and bylined articles. He has written and placed op-eds in national and local print and online publications for a range of educational, health care and corporate clients, including Children’s Hospital Boston, the Massachusetts State University System, Nutter McClennen & Fish, Tufts Health Plan, the University of Massachusetts, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Perkins School for the Blind.

Paul leads the team on several of the firm’s signature clients, including corporate communications for Nutter McClennen & Fish, one of Boston’s leading law firms, which has realized a 100 percent increase in media hits under his guidance; Children’s Hospital Boston on a range of public health and other advocacy campaigns; the State University System of Massachusetts in enhancing the system’s reputation for excellence and value in higher education; and Cushing Academy, a boarding and day school that offers an innovative curriculum and approach to learning that prepares students for success and leadership in the 21st century.

Prior to joining Denterlein, Mr. Jean was a professor of political science at Bridgewater State College. He specialized in international political economy and international environmental politics. Mr. Jean earned his Master of Arts in government from Georgetown University and received his Bachelor of Arts in political science and economics summa cum laude from Bridgewater State College.

He is active in a number of civic organizations.
